Rustic Urban Wedding with Stephanie and Shaughn
A rustic urban wedding on the ocean. Saraguay House is a beautiful venue on the North West Arm. Located on the ocean it has a stunning rustic wooden wharf and gazebo. I love weddings on the water whether it be lake or ocean frontage, they are so stunning! Stephanie and Shaughn made the decision to get married indoors because of the falling rain in August of 2017. Stephanie waited until the last possible moment to make that decision as she really wanted her wedding outdoors unfortunately the weather decided not to cooperate.
The Wedding Prep Photos at Juno Tower
Stephanie got ready at Juno Towers in Halifax with her bridesmaids, close family and friends. It was a quiet morning with lots of amazing moments, especially when the bridal brooch bouquet arrived. I loved her bridal brooch bouquet, so unique! Stephanie’s gown was vintage ivory with beautiful lace flowers throughout her gown. Shaughn got ready at the Delta Halifax Hotel with his groomsmen. There was lots of smiles when the guys opened their really cool beer mugs. The both traveled by vehicle to Saraguay House for their wedding ceremony and reception.

The Almost First Look Photos
Stephanie decided she wanted a first look without the look, in the backyard of the wedding venue. Shaughn came out first and we put him into place to make sure he couldn’t see Stephanie as she walked down the stairs towards him. They ended up standing back to back holding hands and just had a moment with each other. Such a sweet memory!

The Wedding Ceremony Photos
It decided to rain on their wedding day. We had hoped the rain would hold out so Stephanie and Shaughn could have the outdoor wedding they wanted. But it was not to be. In the end, it was still a very emotional, sweet and lovely ceremony indoors. Their best man took the rings around to all the guests in a warming ceremony, something I had never seen before. I found it quite moving though. Stephanie walked up the aisle with her father as Shaughn waited for her at the alter.
The also did a wedding wine box ceremony which involved placing a bottle of wine into a box for their first wedding anniversary. Another first I had not seen before. I just love unique weddings that show of the personalities of the couple.
They both said their personal vows to one and another, then exchanged the rings and of course the first kiss followed.
The Wedding Party Photos
Stephanie and Shaughn decided to brave the rain and so we headed to Horseshoe Island Park by the Armdale rotary, not too far away from Saraguay House. There images were quite picturesque with the Dingle Tower and the ocean in the background.
The Wedding Reception Photos
We returned to Saraguay House for their wedding reception. Stephanie and Shaughn had opted for a sweetheart table which I loved. I hadn’t had a wedding with a sweetheart table up to this point another more unique aspect of their personalities. The wedding party sat at a round table to the side. The meal was buffet style and absolutely delicious. The bride’s father started the speeches off, followed by the maid of honor, the best man and Stephanie’s brother who gave Shaughn a gift of pretzels and pepsi. Next up we had the bride’s grandmother, bridesmaid and then the couple themselves did a thank you speech.
The reception didn’t end there, how is this for a first…a hula hoop show! Yup that’s right one of the guests got up and hula hopped! Her reward? Stephanie and Shaughn kissed.
They ended the evening off cutting the cake, a trip to the wharf over the ocean for a few pictures, followed by the first dance followed by the parent dances.
