A Quaint Wedding Chapel Ceremony with…Kristy and Tom
It was a cold, windy wedding day for Kristy and Tom at their quaint wedding chapel ceremony in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Kristy’s wedding was extremely emotional for me as she is one of my oldest childhood friends, we met when she was 5 and I was 7, at brownies. Watching her marry Tom and capturing every moment was just so overwhelmingly amazing.
Kristy and I chatted about what she wanted for her wedding ceremony. I kept throwing venues her way but she always came back to the courthouse. Being a wedding photographer, I really don’t care for courthouse weddings and yes I was opinionated as always:) I had heard about this new Las Vegas rendition of a wedding chapel in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. I urged her to take a peak at it. The result was a quaint and simple wedding ceremony at the new Wolfville Chapel wedding venue.

The Love Story
Kristy and Tom met on line. It was indeed a new age love story and match! When they first met, Tom was dressed for the weather in a bright yellow coat. Kristy was not sold. Ha ha. I personally can see her eyes rolling at that coat. Tom fell for her almost immediately. Honestly, I don’t know of any guy who didn’t fall for Kristy immediately, who wouldn’t with her winning personality and overwhelming laughter. Tom really admired Kristy’s parenting and dedication to her work, family and friends. It took a little longer for Kristy but Tom’s caregiving nature and bond with her kids sealed the deal!
Favorite Part of Their Wedding Day
Kristy loved that the Wolfville Chapel was a small wedding venue where she could have just their close family with them. Tom loved the first look of Kristy coming down the aisle accompanied by her daughter and son. It was written all over his face. I think Kristy’s sister, Heather, was even enjoying the look on his face;)
Advise for the Newly Engaged
Just do it! Had they put off their wedding to meet all criteria, they would still be waiting to get married. After waiting 3 years, it couldn’t have gone better, as short as it was. Also, it’s one day (or a few hours!) Don’t break the bank!
The Wedding Ceremony Photos
Kristy and Tom had had many conversations about where they wanted to get married. The Wolfville Chapel was convenient, available and aligned perfectly with those conversations. They didn’t have a real theme. Their entire wedding was planned in 3 weeks. Small, intimate and short all made for a great event for the two of them. Whirlwind was the nature of their event!
When I got the phone call to capture their wedding ceremony and heard the date, my first thought…that’s 3 weeks away! Kristy has always been the most spontaneous person I’ve ever met.
The Wedding Party Photos
The Wolfville Chapel has many cool inside wedding photo opportunities. The antique settee with the awesome lit up “Going to the chapel” along with the old fashioned photo booth for the bride, groom and guests to use.
There is even more opportunity for beautiful wedding photos behind the chapel at the seaside park with gazebo. Kristy and Tom braved the bitter cold and crazy wind to capture a few photos by the oceanside with their family.
Covid and the Wedding Day
Kristy and Tom postponed their wedding, mostly due to covid. They wanted to ensure the right people could be here for their wedding. Making this last minute decision was a bit stressful. In the end, Kristy was glad they did it that way. There would be no more extended stress and love is truly what matters.
