Lot 6 Halifax Engagement Photos, A Love Story with Bonita and Fahad
Bonita and Fahad chose the Lot 6 restaurant in Halifax for their engagement photos. When Fahad was living on the west coast, he would come back for the month of December. During that month, they made sure that they had a few days to themselves, without any family or friends. Renting an Airbnb and just spending quality time together. One of the plans they made was a proper dinner date. Bonita and Fahad dressed in formal clothes, went to the ballet and then a dinner date at Lot 6. They both loved the atmosphere at that restaurant. It was naturally, the perfect location for their engagement photos. It’s always a great idea to choose places that mean something to both of you as a couple. When it comes to engagement photos, the location you choose will allow emotions from past memories to come shining through.
The Love Story
It began in the summer of 2017. Fahad had just been accepted to the Canadian Armed Forces and thought it best to get in a little physical training before going off to basic training in September. He started going to the nearby pool where, unbeknownst to him, Bonita was lifeguarding. They immediately hit it off. The following week, they went on their first date. Their first date was at a local sushi spot (which now has become a regular meal choice in their home) and then walked to a Starbucks where, after talking for hours, realized that the staff were impatiently waiting to close the store.
Bonita and Fahad spent all of their time together that summer, but sadly it had to come to an end. Fahad had to go to basic training in Quebec, but after very little conversation, they decided to continue talking every day. Though seemingly taking forever, basic training was finally over, only to see Fahad move to the west coast. Still, they persevered. For a year and a half and with a four-hour time difference, Bonita and Fahad continued to keep each other company.
Finally, Fahad was posted back to Halifax and moved home in early summer 2019. Bonita moved in a few months later. Less than 30 days after Bonita moved in, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Ironically, they went from never seeing each other, to seeing only each other. After surviving both extremes, they took it as a sign that they could survive anything together.
In their five years together, they have purchased and transformed their first home, got engaged at the site of their first date, taken an international trip to Bangladesh, and are welcoming a fur baby into their home. They both cannot wait to see what the future brings.
How was the Question Popped?
Fahad surprised Bonita by going to the sushi restaurant where they had their first date. He enlisted the help of her best friend, who was hiding around the corner, ready to take pictures at a moments notice. It was a perfect moment. I must admit I would have loved to have capture that proposal moment!
Advice for Newly Engaged Couples
Have a plan in mind, but don’t be too rigid about things. Especially with Covid-19, some plans have to be altered. Whether you have a smaller wedding with 20 people, or a larger wedding with 200 people, as long as you have each other, the rest will fall into place.
The Engagement Photos
Without further adhue here are some more of the images that Bonita and Fahad chose from their engagement session. This was actually only the second time I’ve done a indoor lifestyle type engagement session and I must admit I do love the results from their session. The lighting was simply amazing in the restaurant with lots of props to use and we all know I love props.
As we were leaving Lot 6, I stopped and stared at the above location for quite some time. Unsure about the location itself but seeing something I liked clearly or I would have stopped staring immediately and kept walking for my coat and gear. When I feel that way, I shoot the location no matter what. I loved seeing them choose this image, just because I was so uncertain about it at the time. You just never know what you’re clients will love so shoot it anyway is my motto:)
