An Oceanside, Flowers & Piston Engine Summer Wedding to Remember….with…Samantha & Randy
An oceanside, flowers and piston engine, summer wedding set the stage for Randy and Samantha’s unforgettable celebration of love. Warm sunshine, blooming florals, and the unexpected charm of engine pistons woven into the decor. Their wedding in July 2025 was as unique as their love story. Held at the stunning Saraguay House overlooking the ocean. The day was heartfelt and meaningful. Filled with the kind of magic that only comes from a love that began with a twist of fate.
The Love Story
Samantha met Randy on her very first day at a co-op job through the Dalhousie Computer Science program. She had four offers in front of her. Her decision, to join Modest Tree. A small software company specializing in 3D virtual training—a decision that would change her life forever.
What started as a professional connection slowly grew into something more. From business trips that felt like vacations with a best friend. To late dinners that felt more and more like dates, their relationship blossomed in the most natural way. Over time, comfort turned into companionship, and companionship turned into love. Today, they not only share a life together—they still share an office, surrounded by many close friends who have witnessed their love story unfold from day one.
Their Wedding Day
Choosing Saraguay House as their venue was all about nature and water. The couple envisioned an outdoor wedding with a view of the ocean, and they got exactly that—with the added bonus of perfect summer weather. The breeze, the sunlight, and the natural beauty of the coast provided a breathtaking backdrop for their vows. The wedding theme? A vibrant Summer Garden Party—floral, joyful, and deeply personal. Samantha, a true flower lover and summer baby (born in July), wanted the day to feel like walking into a blooming garden. From tossed seeds in her backyard to carefully chosen bouquets, flowers have always been a source of happiness for her.
The color palette reflected both their personalities—burgundy for Randy, pink for Samantha—and together, the hues added warmth and elegance to every detail.
But perhaps the most unique part of their decor was the use of engine pistons as centerpieces. A nod to Randy’s passion for cars and all things mechanical, these pistons were lovingly cleaned through seven rounds of degreasing (a true labor of love). Surrounded by fresh flowers, they became symbolic of the couple themselves—opposites in many ways, yet beautifully complementary.
The First Look Wedding Photos
The first emotional moment of the day was their first look, set right in front of the sparkling ocean. Samantha walked down the long, tree-lined driveway of Saraguay House, her dress catching the breeze as she made her way toward Randy, who stood quietly with his back turned, facing the water. The anticipation, the stillness of the scene, and the sound of the ocean created a moment suspended in time. When he finally turned around, it was pure emotion—Samantha twirling in her gown, joy, love, and years of memories culminating in a single, unforgettable kiss.

For Samantha, the most meaningful part of their wedding day was exchanging vows—just the two of them, yet surrounded by the most important people in their lives. The heartfelt expressions from family and friends only added to the overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude. It was a day full of connection, reflection, and joyful celebration.

Randy & Samantha’s wedding was more than a beautiful day by the ocean—it was a deeply personal celebration of love, partnership, and shared passions. From the garden-inspired details to the engine pistons that brought their story full circle, it was a wedding that proved one thing above all: when you bring together two hearts, two hobbies, and one stunning seaside view, you get a love story worth remembering.
Advice for the Newly Engaged
Samantha’s advice for newly engaged couples is simple but powerful:
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Whether it’s planning a wedding or building a life together, you don’t have to do it alone—but support rarely comes without asking. Be clear about your needs, lean on your people, and remember—you’re not just planning a day, you’re preparing for a lifetime.
