A Seaside Oceanstone Resort Wedding with Laura and Jeff

Laura and Jeff had an absolutely stunning seaside Oceanstone Resort wedding in Nova Scotia this past October.

“Thank you soooo much! Jeff and I sat down with a bevie in hand and relived the night and it was magical all over again! It was so nice to see what the guests saw, hear the speeches over again (and cry again!). We’re so so happy we went with the video package, we will treasure this video for years to come! It was a beautiful and warm day for the season. The simplicity of the ceremony area was lovely and quaint with all of their family and close friends present to watch as they said their vows. With the smells and sounds of the soft ocean waves in the background, it was a very relaxing but exciting environment full of love and emotions.

The Love Story

Laura and Jeff met on the one and only, Tinder! They both had been unlucky in love, and had gone on their share of bad dates. They had many brief relationships that just didn’t feel right for either of them. Both Laura and Jeff were losing hope when they met for their first date.

They had decided to meet for coffee at a second cup where they got to know each other while enjoying a beautiful day outside. Later on, once they had become more comfortable in their relationship, they both admitted that their first date was pleasant. It wasn’t overwhelmingly exciting for either of them. Since they had been on so many bad dates, they felt maybe they should give each other another chance to see where it might go! In the end, they are so happy they did, because it didn’t take long for them to become best friends and fall in love!

It is amazing how many couples I’ve had that have met online. It just proves that a true love story has no boundaries and should always begin in friendship.

Their Wedding Day

Laura and Jeff felt every aspect of their wedding was fantastic! They just couldn’t pick one thing they favored over another, during their special day. From their rehearsal dinner and s’mores the day before, to getting ready with their wedding party, separately of course! Standing opposite each other at the alter and getting to share that kiss in front of all of their friends and family. Then exploring the rocks of Peggy’s Cove for what Laura imagines will be amazing pictures, I can honestly say they are! Enjoying a delicious dinner while listening to their parents and friends give heartwarming speeches, and then on to their first dance on the balcony under the lit patio lights. The fantastic energy, dancing after the dinner with all of their guests and finally relaxing at the bonfire to end the night! It was simply perfect! Both Laura and Jeff felt having their friends and family sharing in this experience and enjoying it with them was the icing on the cake!

Advise for the Newly Engaged

Laura and Jeff believe you shouldn’t try to plan every last detail. Things will flow the way they flow, and minor mix ups will not be noticed by the guests. In the end, you will be just thrilled to celebrate the day of, and any stresses that led up to the day will seem so small in the end. During the actual event, just let go, and take in each moment, because it goes by so quickly!

The Wedding Prep Photos

Laura is from Nova Scotia, born and raised however, Jeff is from Ontario. When Jeff first came to visit, Laura took him to Peggy’s Cove. This is an area of Nova Scotia that has always been one of her favorite spots. Jeff quickly fell in love with it too. Oceanstone seemed like the perfect place for them to have a wedding because it was just 5 minutes away from Peggy’s Cove! They both had friends and family traveling from afar for the wedding and Laura wanted a wedding venue that would showcase the beauty of Nova Scotia for her guests as well. A wedding venue where their guests could stay and enjoy the entire weekend. Oceanstone had it all!

The Seaside Oceanstone Resort Wedding Ceremony Photos

There was no particular theme in mind for them. Jeff wanted navy suits and Laura wanted shades of pink for the bridesmaids. That became their wedding colour scheme and both decided to keep with those colors in creating a romantic, elegant feel for their wedding day. Simple, elegance.

Laura and Jeff decided to do their family formals right on grounds of Oceanstone with the beautiful ocean in the background. The wedding party then got into several vehicles and we went off to Peggy’s Cove for some truly amazing Nova Scotia photographs.

The Seaside Oceanstone Resort Wedding Reception Photos

There were lots of emotions, tears and laughter during the speeches from family and friends during Laura and Jeff’s wedding reception. I just love capturing the wiping of tears with tissue…make sure you watch their highlight reel below for all of the wedding day emotions! The food was amazing as always and such a beautiful setting for a wedding day.

Covid and the Wedding Day

Ugh, Covid, Laura and Jeff’s wedding finally took place on their third wedding date. Thankfully the majority of their vendors were able to change with each date. It wasn’t too much of a headache, but the continual planning, changing, planning, changing was very stressful, and they found waiting difficult. Both of them mulled over having a smaller ceremony. With Jeff’s parents in Ontario and Laura’s dad in the USA, they knew they wanted to wait so their parents could attend. In the end, the wait was worth it! The stress brought Laura and Jeff closer together as they leaned on each other for support. In the end, the day and the entire weekend couldn’t have been any better!
