A Sir Sandford Fleming Park and St Mary’s Boat Club Wedding with Lauren and Connor
A Sir Sandford Fleming Park and St Mary’s Boat Club wedding was held on a beautiful sunny day this past August. The wedding ceremony was held in the quaint white gazebo in the park while the wedding reception was held at the boat club. Lauren and Connor first met as participants at an environmental recreation center inside the Sir Sandford Fleming Park. They became friends first and grew up through that rec center. It took awhile, but they eventually realized they had mutual feelings for each other!
Advice to Newly Engaged Couples
Communication is very important, and don’t lose sight of what’s important on the wedding day!
The Wedding Prep Photos
Lauren chose to get ready in her parents home in Bedford surrounded by the girls who would be standing with her at the alter and her closest family. There was a lot of smiling and reminiscing that morning as they all got ready for the big day.
Connor had plans to get married in the Adventure Recreation Center where he first met Lauren which tied in very nicely with their wedding day. This is the stuff that memories are made of.

Lauren’s favorite part of the wedding day was walking down the aisle and making the entrance together at the venue as a married couple! It was amazing to feel the love and support from all of their friends and family. They feel very lucky to have such special people in their lives. they chose Fleming Park for their wedding ceremony as the park holds a lot of meaning to them. It is where the recreation center they first met is located. It’s also where they ran camps together. The park is beautiful with lots of forest, and nature which was very important to them. The Saint Mary’s Boat Club is a gorgeous venue right on the Northwest Arm.
Lauren and Connor opted to incorporate a handfasting ceremony within their wedding ceremony and I loved the Nova Scotia tartan inclusion. Family members and wedding party members each carried a rope to the JOP who then entwined them around their hands which held each other. Very sweet moments!
The Wedding Party Photos in the Sir Sandford Fleming Forest
Lauren and Connor chose the forest surrounding the Sir Sandford Fleming Park area for their formal wedding party photos and the main park down by the water for their family formals. I must admit I was unsure at first about the forest but the images are breathtaking. Capturing formal wedding party photos in the forest was a first for me.

Niether Lauren or Connor are big on wedding themes, but they consider theirs theme to be on the nature and forest side of things. Nature has always been important to them, and they love spending time in it.
Connor’s favorite part of their wedding day was the swing dance lessons. Lauren’s cousin, Kelsey, and their friend, Eric, have experience with swing dancing and they asked them to run the lesson. Connor found it fun, unique, popular with their guests, and it encouraged people to get up on the dance floor.
And of course all the rage this year on the dance floor are the light sticks! I love them, love dropping the shutter speed to play with the light that reflects from them!
The Covid Experience
Lauren and Connor had a smaller audience at their ceremony so that they would be able to go through with it no matter what. They decided that they did not want to postpone the wedding based on covid restrictions; instead opting to work with the restrictions as needed. Laurena and Connor found it helpful to have a day of coordinator and to communicate covid rules through their wedding website and through their MC at the reception.
