A Spring Wedding at Ashburn Golf Club: Megan & Kage’s Timeless Love Story
Some love stories begin quietly, unfolding slowly over time. Others spark instantly — the kind you feel in your chest before you even understand what’s happening. For Megan and Kage, their story began with a dance floor, bright orange hair, and the kind of connection that makes you forget the rest of the room exists.
Their May 2026 wedding at Ashburn Golf Club was the perfect reflection of who they are: classic, timeless, heartfelt, and full of joy. As their photographer, I had the privilege of documenting every moment — from their emotional ceremony to the laughter‑filled reception and the quiet, meaningful pauses in between.
How It All Began: A Night of Dancing at 19
Their story began when Megan’s girl friend group merged with Kage’s guy friend group after a high school trip. The two soon found themselves at the same parties, the same gatherings, moving within the same circle of friends — but everything shifted one night downtown. That evening, they danced together for hours, completely locked in on each other. Megan was instantly drawn to his bright orange hair, and Kage still remembers how she was the only girl on the dance floor, full of energy and confidence.
Kage remembers something different — something that says everything about Megan:
“She was the only girl dancing while everyone else was hanging around.”
That energy, that confidence, that spark… it was the beginning of everything.
A Stylish Start at the Lord Nelson Hotel
Megan spent the morning getting ready at the iconic Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax, a space that brought elegance and character to their wedding day. Kage began his day at home with his groomsmen before meeting up at the hotel’s cozy bar, where they shared laughs, a round of drinks, and a few relaxed portraits before the celebrations began. Meanwhile, the girls made full use of the bright, stylish lobby — capturing fun, candid getting‑ready moments surrounded by the hotel’s classic architecture and natural light. It was the perfect blend of calm, excitement, and personality before everyone headed to Ashburn Golf Club for the ceremony.
A Heartfelt First Look in the Halifax Public Gardens
Megan and Kage shared their first look in the Halifax Public Gardens, just steps across from the Lord Nelson. Surrounded by winding paths, lush greenery, and the quiet charm of the Victorian gardens, the moment felt intimate and timeless. As soon as Kage turned to see Megan, the nerves of the morning melted into pure joy. The soft spring light, the stillness of the gardens, and the emotion between them created one of the most heartfelt moments of their day — a beautiful pause before the celebrations truly began.
A Wedding Day Filled With Meaning
Their wedding day at Ashburn Golf Club was a beautiful blend of elegance and emotion. The venue’s grand chandeliers, manicured golf course grounds, and spacious patio created the perfect backdrop for their classic white‑and‑gold aesthetic.
Why Ashburn Golf Club Was the Perfect Venue
Ashburn Golf Club offered everything they envisioned:
- A prestigious, grand atmosphere
- Elegant chandeliers and refined indoor spaces
- A beautiful patio for guests to enjoy
- Scenic golf course grounds, perfect for photos
- A convenient location between Halifax and Hammonds Plains
- Highly rated food, which was a priority for them
Their wedding style was intentionally classic — white florals, gold accents, and timeless décor choices that would still feel beautiful 20 years from now. Ashburn’s architecture and natural surroundings complemented that vision perfectly.
Timeless Elegance: Their Wedding Style
Megan and Kage wanted a wedding that would never feel dated. No trendy colours, no fleeting décor styles — just pure, classic elegance. Every detail — from the florals to the tablescape to the venue itself — supported that vision.

Kage’s Favourite Moments
Kage had two:
- The ceremony, when he realized everything they had worked so hard for was finally coming together.
- The end of the night, heading back to the hotel knowing they had pulled off an incredible celebration — and were officially married.
Megan’s Favourite Moment
Her favourite part of the day wasn’t the big, dramatic moments — it was the quiet pause during dinner. Sitting at the beautifully styled white tablescape, surrounded by her sisters and their partners, listening to heartfelt speeches… it was the first moment she could breathe, take it all in, and enjoy being next to her new husband.

Advise for the Newly Engaged
Megan and Kage shared thoughtful advice for couples beginning their wedding journey:
Plan Early: The more you can do ahead of time, the less stressed you’ll feel in the final weeks.
Not Everything Has to Be Flashy: Prioritize what matters most to you, and let go of the rest.
Support Each Other: If one partner is the primary planner, being a strong support system makes a world of difference.
You Won’t Talk to Everyone — and That’s Okay: Don’t pressure yourselves. Enjoy your day together.
Don’t Worry About Whether Everyone Else Is Having Fun: This day is about you. Make sure you enjoy it.
