A Bangladesh Canadian Hotel Wedding…with Bonita & Fahad
It was a bright, sunny and warm wedding day, albeit a tad windy, for Bonita and Fahad’s Bangladesh Canadian-style hotel wedding at the Marriott Harbourfront in Halifax. The perfect venue for this unique wedding that brought together the Bangladeshi and Canadian cultures.
The Love Story
It began in the summer of 2017. Fahad had just been accepted to the Canadian Armed Forces and thought it best to get in a little physical training before going off to basic training in September. He started going to the nearby pool where, unbeknownst to him, Bonita was lifeguarding. They immediately hit it off. The following week, they went on their first date. Their first date was at a local sushi spot (which now has become a regular meal choice in their home) and then they walked to a Starbucks where, after talking for hours, they realized that the staff were impatiently waiting to close the store. Bonita and Fahad spent all of their time together that summer. You can read more on their love story in my blog post about their engagement session at Lot 6.
The Wedding Prep Photos
The day started early for the bride and her bridesmaids, who were getting ready in one of the hotel’s luxurious suites.
As they were getting their hair and makeup done, they were chatting and laughing, enjoying the excitement and anticipation of the day ahead. The night before the bridal party had their hands stylized with henna patterns.
As the bride stepped into her wedding dress, her mother and sister helped her with the final touches. The bride wore a beautifully, stunning and elegant princess-style wedding dress. They adjusted her veil, added a beautiful necklace and earrings, and made sure that everything was perfect.
The bride looked stunning, and her bridesmaids dressed in red gowns, gasped in awe when they saw her.
Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen were getting ready in a different room within the hotel, putting on their Bangladeshi attire and making sure everything was perfect.
The First Look Wedding Photos
Bonita and Fahad opted for a first look outside the hotel in the Historic Properties. It was full of emotion!
The Wedding Ceremony Photos
As the ceremony time approached, the guests started to arrive, dressed in their finest attire. There was a buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air, as everyone was eager to witness the union of these two wonderful people. The ceremony was held inside the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel and guests were seated on either side of the aisle. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride and groom.
As the music started to play, the groomsmen walked down the aisle, followed by the bridesmaids. They were all smiling and looking happy, excited to be part of this special day.
The bride made her grand entrance, walking down the aisle with both her mother and father. She looked radiant, and her eyes were fixed on the groom, who was waiting for her at the altar.
The ceremony was a beautiful blend of Bangladeshi and Canadian traditions, with elements such as their emotional vows to each other, the exchange of rings and the signing of the marriage certificate. The bride and groom were beaming with joy throughout the entire ceremony, and their love for each other was palpable.
The Wedding Party Photos
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their bridal party headed to the Halifax waterfront, where they took formal pictures in Historic Properties. The historic buildings and beautiful waterfront provided the perfect backdrop for these stunning pictures.
The bridal party also took some fun and playful pictures, showcasing their personalities and the bond they share. The pictures turned out beautifully, and they will be cherished memories for years to come.
The Wedding Reception Photos
After the formal wedding photos, Bonita and Fadah headed back to the hotel for their wedding reception. The reception was held in the beautifully decorated Sable ballroom. The tables were decorated with white linens. The centrepieces were cards which told the story of all of the adventures they have had since they met.
The couple entered the room to cheers and applause from their guests and shared their first dance as husband and wife. The guests were then treated to a delicious dinner.
The rest of the evening was filled with dancing and celebration.
Bonita and Fahad’s wedding day was a beautiful and unique event that showcased the beauty of blending cultures and brining people together. The day was filled with love, joy, and happiness, and it was clear that the couple’s families and friends were thrilled to celebrate their union. Their wedding was a beautiful reminder that love knows no boundaries and that when two cultures come together, the result can be truly magical.
