Shubie Park Engagement Photos, A Love Story…with Julie & Kevin

Shubie Park engagement photos , just one word, magical. When Julie requested a picnic style engagement session, my first thoughts, next to the locks! I had an picnic basket already on hand as well as a chalkboard. Julie and Kevin bought the blanket and book. The results oh the results. What I wasn’t prepared for, seeing a shadow to the left of me as I sat on the ground to take pictures. There was a hole and a little chipmunk popped its head up to see what we were up to several times! Should I also mention the two ducks that also come see what we were up to as well. The entire experience seemed more like a fairytale to me. As I read their responses to my love story questions, remembered their interactions together during the shoot, that fairytale resinated even more.

The Friendship Begins

Julie and Kevin met at work, a true office romance. There was obvious chemistry however she was in a relationship at the time. They spent the first two years becoming best friends, spending all of their time together. Walking Julie’s dog Pluto, playing video games or just chatting. After two years, Julie’s current relationship ended and she knew that no relationship could be as good or as special as the one she has with Kevin. Their collegues had watched Julie and Kevin together for two years and everyone knew they were destined soulmates and best friends.

The Love Story Grows

Julie and Kevin started dating at the end of 2017. It turned out to be the greatest decision either had ever made. Their coworkers were so excited for them. Julie and Kevin had the same interests, the same sense of humour and the same temperaments. Julie moved in with Kevin after 5 months of dating and it became even more perfect. Kevin is a great cook and he has offered to make her whatever she wants whenever she wants since the day she moved in. They spend all their time together, even before Covid, and it is the most natural thing in the world. Anyone who meets them usually says “how are you so in love??” That love was so evident during their engagement shoot and you can see it in their engagement photos!

How was the Question Popped?

On Valentine’s Day, February 2021: Julie came down for breakfast on Valentine’s Day Kevin had a present waiting! Upon opening it there was a card with a riddle on it. The riddle led me to a tool box in the back garden which was locked with a 4 letter combination lock. There was a hint on the top which led Julie upstairs to a recipe card under their bed pillows. The recipe card had 4 spices circled. When she took the spices out of the cupboard she found on the bottom of each, were letters that spelled “Date.”

These letters opened the combination lock! Inside the tool box was a puzzle, which once assembled, had a book cipher on the back. Using the correct book (Percy Jackson – The Lightning Thief) Julie decoded words that led her to look under Pluto’s dog bed. A final card led Julie to a black light flashlight and a piece of paper at the bottom of her tea jar. Once she used the flashlight on the paper she read “Why did the bee get married?” To which Kevin said, while on one knee, “because he found his hunny.” OMG! What a seriously romantic proposal and yes as I put this blog post together I am in tears!

The Shubie Park Engagement Photos Sneak Peak

Julie and Kevin chose Shubie park due to its natural beauty. They had visited it three years prior when they were in Nova Scotia for Julie’s sister’s wedding and we were both awestruck by what a beautiful park it is.

Advice for Newly Engaged Couples

Enjoy the wedding planning process. Figure out what needs to get booked ASAP and then take a break! Figuring out the venue, photographer, cake & rentals to book early can be stressful. Once you get that sorted let yourself take a step back from planning for a week or a few months so you don’t get burnt out. Then when you get back to it, it can be exciting again!
